Hypnobirthing

What is hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is a childbirth preparation technique that will empower you to manage your unique birth experience no matter what sort of birth you are planning. The aim of hypnobirthing is to promote a more positive and empowering birthing experience by reducing stress and anxiety. This method emphasizes the body's natural ability to give birth and encourages a calm and peaceful environment for both the birthing person and their baby.

It is not about me hypnotising you or teaching you how to give birth, but giving you self-hypnosis techniques and skills to adjust to whatever may be happening.

What will hypnobirthing teach me?

Hypnobirthing is designed to teach expecting parents various techniques to help manage discomfort and stay calm, confident and in control during labour and delivery. You can expect to learn deep relaxation methods, visualisation techniques, breathing exercises, and positive affirmations. Hypnobirthing also teaches the importance of understanding the physiological process of labour and how to work with your body to facilitate a smoother birth. By practicing these techniques, you can gain confidence in your body's ability to give birth and approach the experience with a more positive mindset.

When should I start hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing can be started at any point during pregnancy, but it is generally recommended to begin around the 20th week. Starting early allows you time to practice and fully integrate the techniques into your routine before labour begins. By starting hypnobirthing early, you can familiarise yourself with the methods, practice relaxation techniques consistently, and build confidence in your ability to manage discomfort during childbirth. The more you practice, the better you will be able to apply these techniques effectively when the time comes.

How many appointments will I need?

The course consists of 5 sessions, each an hour to an hour-and-a-half long. Birthing partners are encouraged to attend with you, if possible. Sessions can be in-person or online.
